One Last Time

Today I’m taking a break from my usual Size Acceptance and Health at Every Size writing to say goodbye and give my respect to President Obama.  I’ll be back tomorrow with my usual fare.

I’ve certainly publicly disagreed with the way that his administration has talked about and treated fat people. He wasn’t perfect, nobody is. But for eight years I’ve had the opportunity to live in a country with a leader I could respect, who worked to move us forward, make progress in civil rights, and be a mature, level-headed leader in the face of horrific racism and obstructionism. Thank you President Obama, I’ll miss you.

  1. It’s going to suck to have to endure watching our President call women “fat pigs” whenever he wants to demean them. Mrs. Obama wasn’t always on point with her “let’s save the fatties” mission, but she was NEVER hateful!

  2. I’m going to really miss having an adult in the white house running things. I fear before much time has passed we ALL will – even the misguided people who voted for him.

I’m not sure how people can’t see that they are handing the nuclear codes over to a wanna be dictator with the self-restraint and temper of a 6 year old.

  3. I was weepy all of yesterday. The Obamas were not perfect. I didn’t agree with everything, but they were kind. They exhibited dignity, integrity and grace. I’ve been worried for some time that those qualities have been disappearing from our society. With this new administration it looks like I was right. I’m hiding out today, dealing with my grief…and my fear.

  4. In denial about the whole thing. Kinda figure we are now seeing humanity devolve into Morlocks and Elois step by step…
